- The first Bulgarian technical association was founded On March 26, 1885 in Rousse, Bulgaria.
- On February 2, 1893 in Sofia the Bulgarian Engineering – Architectural Association was established. In 1937 it was reorganized into the Union of Bulgarian engineers and architects.
- On March 27, 1949 the Union of Bulgarian engineers and architects and six technical organizations were combined into in Scientific and engineering unions.
- In 1965 two separate organizations were established - the Scientific and Technical Unions and the Union of Architects in Bulgaria.
- On March 2, 1989 the Scientific and technical unions were renamed to Federation of the Scientific and Engineering Societies in Bulgaria.
- On March 22, 1990 the Board officially announced March 26 as a Holiday for the Organization, which is celebrated as "Thanksgiving" to veterans and the history of the organization.
- On 30 May 1992 on the IX extraordinary congress the Federation of the Scientific and Engineering Societies in Bulgaria was renamed into Federation of the Scientific - Engineering Unions in Bulgaria.
